Short Story

This past August, Dimitris sustained extensive craniocerebral injuries, after suffering a severe car accident. After remaining in the ICU for 2 months, he was transferred to a rehabilitation center, where he remains to this day. When Dimitris was first admitted to the center, he was in a really bad shape. The 41-year-old man was unable to speak, to move his extremities, to open his eyes. He was trapped in a body that wouldn’t obey him. As months went by however, his neurological state started to show great improvement. He can now move his extremities and communicate by blinking his eyes.  The doctors’ goal is to help him strengthen his muscular system, regain his speech and improve his chewing and swallowing ability, so that he can finally remove the gastrostomy.

Dimitris is hospitalized in a rehabilitation center and he is fighting for his life! He needs us by his side!

Campaign Story

41-year-old Dimitris’ life turned upside down this past August, when he suffered a major car accident. Dimitris sustained extensive craniocerebral injuries, while he had to remain in the ICU for 2 whole months. When his condition was stabilized, he was transferred to a rehabilitation center, where he remains to this day.

His stay in the rehabilitation center is essential for the improvement of his overall health. However, the monthly cost of his hospitalization is unbearable and his family is unable to cope. Recently, Dimitris’ parents reached out to ACT OF KINDNESS and after an inquiry conducted by our interdisciplinary staff, we decided to support this family, who have been experiencing an uphill struggle, both financially and emotionally.

Dimitris’ life turned upside down from one minute to the next. We cannot turn back time. We can, however, stand next to this man who is fighting the greatest battle of his life. Any contribution can make a great difference!
